An inmate at the Johnson County Jail has been charged with contempt after contacting a family protected by a no-contact order 43 times last month.
Arrest records indicate that 36-year-old Quinton Fitzgerald was picked up on charges of first -degree burglary, 2 counts of child endangerment, and domestic abuse assault in the early morning hours of March 9th. That’s when police allege he started contacting the victim, trying to persuade her to drop the charges.
Those seven calls on the 9th were on a recorded line. Throughout the month, Fitzgerald made a total of 43 calls to either the woman or his children, who are also part of the no-contact order.
Fitzgerald is now charged with 17 counts of contempt; with a maximum sentence of 30 days per count, over a year could be added to his sentence if convicted.
He could spend over 17 years in prison if convicted on the original charges. Court records indicate that Fitzgerald has previously been found guilty of contempt for violating a non-contact order at least twice, one count of criminal mischief, and a first-degree harassment charge that was negotiated down to a 3rd degree charge.
