North Liberty Police have arrested a Cedar Rapids man wanted for an attack that sent his girlfriend to the hospital.

According to arrest records, officers were dispatched to an address on Ashley Court just after 9:45 Thursday morning to make contact with 18-year-old Craig Hall of 16th Avenue Southwest. Investigators say Hall initially gave them a false name, but they were able to confirm his identity through jail photographs. When told he was under arrest, Hall allegedly went limp and refused to stand or sit when ordered to by police. He also used his head, legs, and feet on the door and door pillars of the patrol car to keep from being put inside.

One officer was injured while trying to force Hall into the vehicle, and he allegedly spit at an officer once inside.

Hall was wanted after a late Wednesday night incident in Cedar Rapids. Cedar Rapids Police say Hall struck and choked his girlfriend at McKinley Middle School on 10th Street Southeast around 10pm. The attack allegedly caused bruising and swelling to the woman’s lips, neck, eyes and face. The woman also reportedly blacked out after Hall choked her and she was transported to a local hospital.

Hall is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Airflow, Domestic Abuse Assault With Intent to Inflict Serious Injury, Interference with Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury and Providing False Identity Information. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over five years in prison.
