Iowa City Police discover two deceased persons Monday

Iowa City Police discovered two deceased persons Monday; one in the waters of Ralston Creek and another at a makeshift camp site along the Iowa River.

Releases from the police provide just basic information.

At approximately 6:45 a.m., Iowa City Police officers located a deceased person in the 400 block of South Gilbert Street, in the water of the creek. Circumstances surrounding this incident are unknown.

Then at approximately 2:45pm, officers were called to the Highway 6 bridge over the Iowa River for a deceased person located in a makeshift camp site. Circumstances surrounding the second  incident are still being investigated, but are not thought to be related to the deceased person found earlier in the day in Ralston Creek.

The Johnson County Medical Examiner and Iowa City Police are investigating both incidents but as they are in their early stages, authorities are not sharing any specific information at this time.
