A Chicago-area man is the latest arrest related to a shooting incident late Friday night on Iowa City’s southeast side.

28-year-old Terrell Scott of Joliet, Illinois was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 3:45 Saturday morning.

Iowa City Police say Scott and 23-year-old Delorian Banks of Broadway Street arrived at 1102 Hollywood Boulevard just before 11:30 Friday night in a Silver Mitsubishi Galant, driving with the lights off. Banks allegedly shot several rounds at several people standing in the parking lot, striking at least one vehicle. Scott was the driver.

Several 9mm shell casings and a magazine belonging to a Smith & Wesson handgun were found at the scene, and the car was recorded on surveillance video.

Just after 2am Saturday Scott and Banks were located at the Waterfront Hy-Vee after a report of a fight in the parking lot. A handgun missing its magazine could be seen on the back floorboard of a Pontiac G6 in which Scott and Banks had been passengers. It matched the magazine found at the scene of the shooting, and was traced back as stolen from Kenosha, Wisconsin.

The Galant was found about a block away from Hy-Vee with a spent 9mm shell casing on the back driver side floorboard.

Witnesses stated they saw Banks fire shots, and that he and Scott were in the Galant at the time of the shooting.

Scott is charged with Intimidation with a Weapon, Going Armed with Intent, Reckless Use of a Firearm, and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over 17 years in prison.

Banks is charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Going Armed with Intent, Trafficking in Stolen Weapons, Reckless Use of a Firearm, and Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Felon. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 27 years in prison.

The ICPD also responded to a report of shots fired on the 200 block of East Benton Street at approximately 8pm Friday.

Friday night’s shootings are the fourth and fifth reported in the city in just over a week. Earlier on Friday a 15-year-old was charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon and Reckless Use of a Firearm in connection with a shooting on 1200 block of Baker Street on Thursday, June 13th.

The ICPD is also continuing its investigation into two shots fired incidents last Monday, including at 12:45am near the intersection of Benton and Michael Streets and at 3:13am near the intersection of Wayne and Arthur Streets.
