Oxford man arrested for Attempted Murder after Coralville drive-by shooting

An Oxford man faces an Attempted Murder charge in connection with a Friday morning shooting in Coralville.
According to Coralville Police, just before 11:45am Friday officers responded to a report of shots fired near Goodwill on Heartland Place. An investigation determined that 20-year-old Salomen V. Allen of 355th Street followed the victim by vehicle to a parking lot where the victim works. When the victim exited his vehicle, Allen shot at him with a .40 caliber handgun. The bullet struck the victim’s car, but the victim was uninjured.
Allen then fled the scene in a black 2000 Chevy Equinox. The vehicle was spotted by law enforcement and a short pursuit ensued before Allen was taken into custody near the corner of Park Road and Kansas Avenue near Tiffin.
Police say Allen admitted to shooting at the victim, ss well as admitting to purchasing the gun with the serial number removed. He’s charged with Attempted Murder, Eluding, and Carrying Weapons. If convicted on all charges, Allen faces a maximum of 32 years in prison.
