Using a taser during an argument with her neighbor has led to the arrest of an Iowa City woman.
Iowa City Police were called to apartments at 1022 Newton Road just before 1:30am on April 13th after a caller reported that a neighbor had come home and begun screaming at someone else.
An investigation determined that one of the building’s residents, 43-year-old Shannon Lee, had gotten into an argument with a neighbor. The neighbor tried to shut her door on Lee, but Lee stuck her foot in the threshold to keep it from closing completely.
Lee admits she then pulled out a taser and extended it toward the woman, but she claims she only tried to scare her, and accidentally activated it. She also said the taser never made contact with the woman.
The neighbor told police the taser made contact with her arm and chin.
Lee was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 5:15 Saturday morning and charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon. If convicted, she faces a maximum of two years in prison.
