A dispute over food could lead to over 25 years in prison for an Iowa City man.
According to Iowa City Police, around 7:30 Tuesday night 18-year-old Anthony Smith confronted the alleged victim about taking his food from the common kitchen area of their apartment complex at 424 South Lucas Street. The alleged victim returned to his apartment and closed the door, but Smith followed him and knocked. When the man opened the door, Smith allegedly barged in without permission and shoved the man to the ground, causing scrapes and cuts to the man’s arm and elbow.
Smith is charged with 1st Degree Burglary and Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 26 years in prison.
