A seventh University of Iowa basketball player has announced he will enter the transfer portal.
Ladji Dembele made the announcement on social media Thursday. In his post, he thanked Iowa for all the memories, experiences and opportunities. He said, “After careful consideration, I will be entering the transfer portal while keeping open the option to return back to Iowa.”
Dembele was part of a 2023 recruiting class that included Brock Harding, Owen Freeman and Pryce Sandfort. All three previously announced their intentions to enter the portal.
Riley Mulvey, Josh Dix and Cooper Kotch are the other Hawkeyes planning on entering the transfer portal.
The exodus began after head coach Fran McCaffery was fired last Friday. A search for his replacement continues.
