A Cedar Rapids man faces several charges stemming from an alleged assault at a Coralville hotel.

21-year-old Cory Weber of Preston Terrace Court SW is accused of getting into a physical fight with two other males in the lobby Saturday at around 4am.  He allegedly struck one of the men in the face, causing a bloody nose, and was yelling foul language at the victim while the assault was taking place.

During the fight, Weber permanently damaged a set of automatic doors, estimated to be worth about $10,000.  He also reportedly threw multiple items on the front desk to the floor.

Officers on scene spotted Weber driving a Volkswagen through the parking lot upon arrival. His friends identified Weber as the driver, and one passenger was allegedly pushed out of the car, injuring his thumb in the process.

The hotel clerk said Weber stated he was drunk and bragged about officers not doing anything about it after previous altercations with him that night.

Upon contact, Weber allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, impaired balance and the odor of ingested alcohol on his breath.  He refused breath testing after performing poorly on field sobriety tests.

Weber faces several charges. They include 1st degree Criminal Mischief, two counts of Assault Causing Bodily Injury, and first offense OWI. If convicted on all charges, he faces a sentence of up to 13 years in prison.
