A gas leak led to the Friday night evacuation of the Bowen Science Building on the University of Iowa campus.
UI Public Safety sent a Hawkalert at 7:50 Friday night telling the public to avoid the area around the Newton Road facility. The Iowa City Fire Department and first responders were called to the scene, and the situation was resolved just before 11:30 p.m.
The Bowen Science Building remained closed overnight for remediation.
