An organization tabbed by the FBI as a far-right group with white supremacist ideology conducted a march in Downtown Des Moines and at the Iowa Statehouse Saturday.
“The Patriot Front,” created in Texas, is known for conducting events where they march holding American flags and shielding their faces with white masks.
A video supplied to KCCI TV shows the group shouting “Reclaim America” and “Life, Liberty, Victory.”
The Patriot Front’s appearance was condemned by both the Republican and Democratic Parties of Iowa. In a statement, Republican Party chair Jeff Kaufman said, “They sound like morons and I and the Republican Party will always condemn crap like this.” Rita Hart, chair of the Iowa Democrats, said the group tried to intimidate Iowans, and, quote, “has joined protests that resulted in murder, harassment and chaos in cities like Charlottesville and Nashville. Let me be clear: This group, their scare tactics, and their hate have no place in Iowa.”
