An Iowa City man faces possible jail time after an alleged domestic assault that occurred earlier this month.

Police say February 11th at around 10pm, the woman victim arrived at the residence of 42-year-old Jeremy Allen’s mother to pick up her children after learning that Allen was intoxicated and was supposed to be watching them.  As she began putting the children in her car, Allen arrived and boxed her in. He then allegedly pulled the woman out of the vehicle by a backpack she was wearing, pushed her onto the car, and began yelling at her while she was holding her 2-year-old son.

The woman, who has been dealing with a divorce from Allen, grabbed her phone and stated that she was calling the police. Allen then reportedly grabbed the phone from her and pushed her to the ground. The woman then went into the residence to use the mother’s phone, but Allen allegedly followed her inside and pinned her up against the living room wall.

Police noted the victim received scratches, bruising and reddening of her skin on various parts of her body as a result of the alleged incident. When interviewed, Allen reportedly admitted to throwing the woman to the ground and taking her phone.

The victim stated that she feared additional similar behavior from Allen, as he has become more violent with her.

Allen was charged with domestic abuse assault, obstruction of emergency communications, and child endangerment. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to over three years in prison.
