A pair of Washington County residents has been arrested after Louisa County deputies allegedly found numerous drugs in their vehicle.
According to a news release from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, at about 1:15 on the morning of January 28th a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a tail light out near the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 78. Louisa County K-9 Drake alerted on the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search reportedly turned up 95 grams of methamphetamine, 27 grams of marijuana, 11 THC vape cartridges, three fentanyl pills, digital scales with drug residue, multiple used hypodermic needles, and other drug paraphernalia.
The driver of the car, 40-year-old Joseph Karr of Washington, is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance – 3rd or subsequent offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two drug tax stamp violations. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over 45 years in prison.
Karr’s passenger, 20-year-old Jakayla Stevens of Brighton, is charged with possession of a controlled substance – 2nd offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. She faces up to 25 months in jail, if convicted.
