The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal incident at Lake Macbride.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, just after 8:45 Saturday morning the Joint Emergency Communications Center received a call from a passerby on the walking trail near the main boat ramp at Lake Macbride State Park. The caller reported seeing a pair of gloves on the ice, as well as broken ice, and was concerned someone had fallen through.
Arriving first responders found a body in the lake. Members of the Solon Fire Department donned ice rescue suits and were able to remove the individual from the water. The person was transported by ambulance to University of Iowa Health Care on Hawkins Drive, but did not survive. It is unknown how long the subject was under water.
The incident is under investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
