A second suspect has been arrested for his alleged part in an assault at the Old Capitol Town Center.

The first suspect in the January 29th incident was arrested last month. Iowa City Police say just before 9:30 on the morning in question 53-year-old Charles Henderson of Shelter House was seen on video assaulting another subject by punching him in the face, putting him in a headlock and punching him in the head.

Investigators now say while the victim was on the ground 57-year-old David Murray, another transient, kicked him in the head. Murray reportedly told police he was a passerby and decided to attack the man after Henderson had attacked him because he knew the victim had previously been accused of sexual assault. The man who was attacked had redness and complained of pain.

Both Murray and Henderson were charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. Henderson pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of Disorderly Conduct on Friday and was sentenced to one day in jail. Murray still faces up to one year in jail, if convicted.
