Iowa City man accused of recording sex acts with minors reaches plea deal

An Iowa City man accused of recording sex acts with minors has now reached a plea deal with prosecutors.

19-year-old Jonathan Kiasosa entered the guilty plea on Friday. Terms of the deal are not listed in online records.

An Iowa City Police detective executed a search warrant on Kiasosa’s phone on June 18th of last year related to an investigation on reports he was making pornographic videos with minors.  Two videos were found allegedly showing him engaged in a sex act with a 15-year-old girl at S.T. Morrison Park in Coralville.  The video reportedly shows Kiasosa clearly holding his cellphone recording the act.

Kiasosa also allegedly recorded himself performing sex acts on minors at his Indigo Drive residence and at Chadek Green Park on Friendship Street. He also reportedly distributed the video to others.

Kiasosa was initially charged with four counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor Involving a Sex Act, five counts of Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor , and one count of 1st Degree Harassment. If convicted on all charges, he would have faced a maximum of 63 years in prison.

Sentencing is set for March 31st.
