A rural Johnson County man facing stalking and sexual exploitation of a minor charges has been sentenced to five years in prison.

That sentence was handed down to 22-year-old Keegan Gingerich of 560th Street SW by Judge Myron Gookin on Friday as part of a plea deal reached in October.

A Washington County deputy reports encountering Gingerich on the 700 block of 5th Street in Kalona last February. Records indicate Gingerich was wanted on charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – Causing to Engage in a Sex Act, Stalking a Person Under the Age of 18, Stalking Using a Technological Device, Purchasing or Possessing a Depiction of a Minor Involved in a Sex Act, and Invasion of Privacy.  He was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.

If convicted on all charges, Gingerich would have faced a maximum of 52 years in prison. As part of the plea deal, all charges except Purchasing or Possessing a Depiction of a Minor Involved in a Sex Act were dropped.
