The owners of an Iowa City mobile home park that lost running water over the weekend say they have rectified the situation and are reimbursing the affected residents for their troubles.
The Modern Manor manufactured housing community lost water service on Sunday. Representatives for the mobile home park’s owners, Havenpark Communities, have since contacted KCJJ to say that the company replaced a broken water pump on Tuesday morning, and after a short period of rebuilding water pressure in the system, water is now running properly. However, the drop in water pressure caused the Department of Natural Resources to order a precautionary boil notice for Modern Manor until further notice. All Modern Manor residents have been altered to the boil warning, both via text and by Havenpark representatives going door-to-door with paper notices. Bottled water was also delivered to residents free of charge, and a half-dozen port-a-potties were temporarily installed for those who need restroom facilities.
Modern Manor residents who contacted plumbers will be reimbursed by Havenpark, which will also reimburse residents who were forced to stay at motels or hotels while without water.
Havenpark says its representatives will continue meeting with Modern Manor residents going forward to address their concerns.
