The owner of the gun used in a shooting at the Clock Tower Parking ramp in downtown Iowa City has been given a suspended sentence.
25-year-old Narada Poole Jr. of West Des Moines entered a guilty plea in October to a charge of Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Felon. A charge of Prohibited Transfer of a Firearm to an Unauthorized Person was dropped as part of a plea deal.
Poole was accused of providing his gun to his brother,24-year-old Marquel Poole, who then gave it to 24-year-old Alexander Voudhivong of Iowa City. Voudhivong then used the gun to shoot the victim multiple times in the Iowa Avenue parking ramp on the night of May 13th, 2023.
Voudhivong was sentenced in May to 12 years in prison. Marquel Poole was sentenced in July to five years in prison.
On Tuesday, Judge Jason Burns sentenced Narada Poole to a five-year suspended prison sentence. If convicted on both charges, he could have spent up to ten years behind bars.
