A Nichols man was arrested after he was allegedly found driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen.
An Iowa City officer responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Princeton Road. The reporting party provided police with her driver’s license plate number and was live tracking the vehicle.
A stop was conducted near the intersection of Rochester and Eastbury in Iowa City at around 6:15pm Tuesday. 22-year-old Kaddan Mills was the driver, and he allegedly provided a false name to officers three times before he was correctly identified using booking photos.
A check of Mills’ driving record showed his status as barred and revoked. A subsequent search of the vehicle reportedly turned up numerous pieces of foil containing heroin, and a crystalized substance that was identified as methamphetamine.
Mills was arrested and faces several charges. They include Operating Vehicle without Owner Consent, a second offense Controlled Substance violation, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, False Application for License or ID Card, Driving While Barred, and Driving While Revoked. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to over eight years in prison.
