A University of Iowa fraternity welcomed back to campus this past spring after a history of hazing suspensions has been suspended once again.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon had been removed for hazing in 2018, having broken hazing rules going back as afar as 2008.

The Gazette reports the fraternity is facing interim suspension after the Office of Student Accountability received an anonymous email in November with evidence of hazing. That email contained a video of students performing exercises at the command of other students in SAE’s basement.

An interim suspension was imposed on November 20th, barring Sigma Alpha Epsilon from participating in any sponsored meetings and programs, intramurals, or related events.  The chapter had ten days to appeal, but UI officials told the newspaper they haven’t heard from the frat since the notice was sent.

The Stop Campus Hazing Act went into effect January 1st, expanding reporting of hazing to all clubs, teams, student and campus organizations as well as fraternities and sororities.
