Two truck stops owned by the Iowa 80 Group Inc, including the “World’s Largest Truck Stop” in Walcott have been fined for alleged violations of the federal Clean Water Act.

According to a release from the EPA, the over $390,700 fine involves failure to comply with regulations intended to protect water bodies from petroleum discharges.

EPA discovered the alleged violations during inspections of the truck stops in 2023.

According to the Agency, the truck stops failed to adequately develop and implement Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure, or SPCC plans, as required by the Clean Water Act. In response to EPA’s findings, the facilities revised their plans, conducted internal and external tank inspections, and completed the necessary repairs.

The second truck stop is located in Joplin, Missouri.
