Iowa City Police are seeking the public’s help with their investigation into a fatal shooting early Monday.
According to a release from the city, the Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at 2:38am in the 600 Block of S. Dodge Street.
Responding officers located a female victim who was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of her next of kin. The incident, which appears to be isolated, remains under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
Authorities are asking for the public’s help with their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Iowa City Police Department at 319-356-5275. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact the Iowa City Police Department with any potential footage or information about this incident.
