Iowa City Police arrested a wanted subject who was staying at the city’s wet shelter Sunday night.

Officers say they observed 42-year-old Anthony Wyatt staying at the Southgate Avenue facility just before 6:15 p.m. and believed he had a warrant for his arrest after failing to appear for a court date last month on a  trespassing charge. . Once the warrant was confirmed, Wyatt was taken into custody. A search of his person reportedly turned up a plastic container in his coat pocket which contained a marijuana joint.

Wyatt, who lists his address as Shelter House, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.

Wyatt was sentenced to ten days in jail for an October incident at the Iowa City Post Office. Wyatt was sleeping inside the post office when he was told to leave. He gave arriving police a number of false names and dates of birth. As he was being escorted out of the building by officers, he reportedly threw his drink at them.  He was then placed under arrest and attempted to resist officers.
