A patient at University of Iowa Health Care is accused of assaulting hospital staff.
UI Police say 53-year-old Stacie Bodenhofer of Maquoketa was being seen at the Hawkins Drive facility on the night of August 3rd when she reportedly tried to leave against medical advice. Witnesses say she was verbally abusive and aggressive, and at one point grabbed a doctor’s hand and twisted, causing pain and leaving a visible fingernail imprint.
Police say Bodenhofer continued getting into the faces of UIHC staffers, and elbowed a nurse in the stomach after the nurse tried to retrain her.
Bodenhofer was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 6:15 Saturday night and charged with two counts of Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. If convicted on both counts, she faces a maximum of two years in jail.
