An Iowa City woman allegedly had a dangerous level of alcohol in her system when police charged her with OWI early Friday.

Officers conducted a stop on24-year-old Elise Goodvin of Southlawn Drive at approximately 12:51 am on the 900 block of South Van Buren after she was reportedly involved in a collision with multiple vehicles.  Upon contact, Goodvin allegedly admitted to drinking earlier in the evening while at work.  She was observed with bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of ingested alcohol.

After failing field tests, Goodvin submitted to chemical testing. A PBT showed her breath-alcohol level at .35 percent, over 4 times the legal limit. A subsequent Datamaster came up with a reading of .338 percent.

Medical experts say a blood-alcohol concentration of .35 percent or higher is dangerously high and can lead to coma or death.

Goodvin was charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor. She could be sentenced to up to a year in jail if convicted.
