A Lone Tree man was arrested on an OWI charge late Sunday after allegedly being found parked in the road dangerously.

The incident occurred just before 10:40pm.  45-yar-old Ramon Mena-Ledezma was on 520th Street in Iowa City, parked in the middle of the street with the lights of his vehicle turned off and reportedly in a dangerous position on the road.  An officer found him sitting in the vehicle with the engine off.

Mena-Ledezma allegedly had Budweisers on the passenger floor board and was observed with bloodshot watery eyes and the odor of alcohol on his person.  After performing poorly on field tests, he was taken to the Department of Public Safety where he reportedly refused to submit to testing.  Mena-Ledezma allegedly admitted to pulling over to drink, but claimed he was not the one driving, despite being the only person in the vehicle and having the keys in his front pocket.

Mena-Ledezma has a previous conviction in Johnson County for OWI in February 2023; he was charged with his second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.
