Iowa City Police have arrested a man they say tried to fight juveniles at Mercer Park.
31-year-old Terrance Campbell was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 1:00 Sunday morning. Police made contact with him referencing a weapons offense. During the course of the investigation, police report seeing security footage of Campbell pulling up to Mercer Park in his car Friday afternoon just before 4:30. That’s despite the fact that he has a barred license. Campbell is seen exiting his car and engaging in a verbal altercation with several juveniles. The juveniles ran into the Mercer Park Aquatic Center for safety, and Campbell can be seen running up to the door and using hand gestures indicating he wanted the juveniles to come back outside and fight him.
Campbell is also accused of shoving a woman against a wall at his Keokuk Court apartment just after 11:30 Saturday night because she had been on the phone with her mother discussing an incident from the previous day.
Campbell is charged with Disorderly Conduct, Driving While Barred, and Domestic Abuse Assault – 2nd Offense. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of over four years in jail.
