A transient is accused of breaking into the Iowa City residence of a woman who has a protective order against him in order to threaten her.

32-year-old Donald Franklin allegedly kicked in the door of the victim’s Broadway Street apartment just before 12:45 on the morning of December 1st, then entered and threatened a woman who had a protective order against him. The alleged victim fled upstairs, and later told police she was fearful that Franklin would assault her in the future.

Franklin is also accused of calling the subject around 8:00 the same morning to discuss the reported break-in. He’s already facing charges of Assault Causing Bodily Injury and Interference With Official Acts after he allegedly assaulted the woman last month after she became upset over him scolding her children, then fought with police upon his arrest.

Police located Franklin riding inside a vehicle travelling on the 2000 block of Broadway Street just before 8:45 Saturday night. He again allegedly resisted being taken into custody.

Franklin is charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, Assault Against a Protected Party, Interference With Official Acts, and two violations of a protective order. If convicted on all counts against him, Franklin faces a maximum of over 16 years in prison.
