Governor Kim Reynolds joined 16 other Republican governors in sending a letter to Congress calling on legislators to reauthorize an updated Farm Bill and provide the nation’s farmers immediate financial assistance so American farmers can continue to feed our nation and the world.
The letter points out the high inflation, high input costs, high interest rates, catastrophic weather events, natural disasters, regulatory uncertainty, and a growing agricultural trade deficit that has caused economic hardship on the farm industry.
The letter concludes by saying, “Our nation’s agriculture industry is in trouble and if meaningful support is not provided soon, the well-being of the nation is at risk. Reauthorization of a Farm Bill and immediate assistance in the interim will allow farmers and ranchers to do what they do best—provide for America and feed the world.”
Additional signatories include Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, Arkansas Governor Sarah Sanders, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, Idaho Governor Brad Little, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, Missouri Governor Mike Parson, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, Utah Governor Spencer Cox, and West Virginia Governor Jim Justice.
