A Nebraska man was taken into custody for operating his vehicle while intoxicated early Saturday morning.
At around 12:30 am, 26-year-old Joseph Baker of Omaha was driving south on Clinton Street and turned west on Prentiss Street. He then allegedly stopped and ran off the road and turned back south on Clinton before stopping in the roadway past a stop sign. He was then stopped by police.
Upon contact, an odor of alcohol consumption was detected. Baker reportedly had a hard time giving the officer an ID and seemed confused. Standard sobriety tests allegedly showed signs of intoxication, and Baker repeatedly asked if he seemed ok and if he could just go home. A Datamaster test showed his breath-alcohol level at .179 percent, over two times the legal limit.
Baker was charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
