University of Iowa Police have arrested a Henry County man they say threw a portable heater at a UI Health Care security guard.
The incident occurred at the main entrance of the Hawkins Drive facility just before 4:15 Friday morning. Police say after 62-year-old Kent Walters of Wayland threw the heater at the guard, he attempted to pass her with a chair and get behind a desk.
The victim suffered a left knee injury. Walters reportedly admitted to wanting to assault the guard and pushing the chair into her. The incident was captured on security video.
Walters is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
