Two IMCC inmates die over the last week

Two inmates have died at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville.

According to the Iowa Department of Corrections, 76-year-old Charles E. Stevens was pronounced dead at the Oakdale facility at 4:00 Saturday afternoon. Stevens had been serving a life sentence for a conviction out of Polk County. His sentence began on Feb. 16, 1979.

Then, two days later, 76-year-old Roger Craig Kissel was pronounced dead at 6:35 a.m. Kissel had been serving a 25-year sentence and a life special sentence for convictions out of Fremont County. His sentence began on May 5, 2016.

Neither cause of death has been released.
