Fire Chief Platz Recognized by the Iowa Fire Chiefs Association

Fire Chief Brian Platz was awarded the Roger W. Mooty award by the Iowa Fire Chiefs Association.
The recognition was awarded at a surprise ceremony to the North Liberty fire station on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, in front of Platz’s family, crew and coworkers, and other city officials.
The Roger W. Mooty Memorial Award, which has been awarded annually since 1986, is given in recognition to someone who has showed exceptional contributions and advancement of the fire service, with the same ideals as did the namesake of this award. Mooty was a former fire chief of the Grundy Center Fire Department and past recipient of the Governor’s Award who was dedicated to the fire service for more than 30 years and was a strong advocate of firefighter training.
