Rural Johnson County man accused of stalking, sexual exploitation of a minor reaches plea deal

A rural Johnson County man facing stalking and sexual exploitation of a minor charges has reached a plea deal.

A Washington County deputy reports encountering 22-year-old Keegan Gingerich of 560th Street SW on the 700 block of 5th Street in Kalona last February. Records indicate Gingerich was wanted on charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – Causing to Engage in a Sex Act, Stalking a Person Under the Age of 18, Stalking Using a Technological Device, Purchasing or Possessing a Depiction of a Minor Involved in a Sex Act, and Invasion of Privacy.  He was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.

If convicted on all charges, Gingerich would have faced a maximum of 52 years in prison. Court records show he entered a guilty plea on Monday. Terms of the plea deal and a sentencing date have not been released.
