An injured Iowa City motorcyclist has reached a plea deal after allegedly trying to outrun an Iowa State Patrol trooper on Interstate 380.

According to the official accident report, a trooper in an aircraft recorded 20-year-old Tessa Galloway of Hawk Ridge Drive speeding southbound near the Forevergreen Road exit in July. An officer on the ground attempted a traffic stop, but Galloway reportedly refused to pull over and continued southbound. The trooper was unable to get a radar lock, but his squad car reached speeds up to 117 miles per hour, and he was still unable to catch up to Galloway.

Galloway attempted to negotiate a curve on the southbound I-380 to eastbound I-80 flyover, but she hit a guardrail and crashed. She was thrown about 100 feet from the bridge, and arriving officers found her standing and in need of medical attention about 40 feet from the crashed 2005 Honda CBR600.

Galloway was transported to the University of Iowa Health Care Campus Medical Center. She was initially charged with Felony Eluding, Driving Without a Valid License, Speeding, Failure to Maintain Control and Reckless Driving.

Court records show Galloway entered a guilty plea on Friday. Terms of the plea deal and a sentencing date have not been released.
