A central Iowa woman has been charged in connection with an alleged assault with a baseball bat at the Iowa City Walmart.

Iowa City Police say 33-year-old Sarafina Rouze of Des Moines met another subject in the parking lot of the Highway 1 West superstore just before 6:45 Friday night. Rouze reportedly struck the other person multiple times in the arm with a baseball bat in what investigators describe as an unprovoked attack. The alleged victim was able to restrain Rouze, who reportedly resorted to biting the other person on the arm.

The alleged victim’s account was corroborated by witnesses. Rouze was arrested and charged with Assault With Intent to Inflict Serious Injury and Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted on both counts, she faces a maximum of three years in jail.
