Iowa City woman accused of stabbing man in neck with pencil

An Iowa City woman was charged with Domestic Assault  after a verbal argument reportedly escalated to a physical confrontation.

Police say 38-year-old Belinda Sigsbury of 3rd Avenue and the man have a domestic history, with him being the protected party in a previous no-contact order. Just before 3:30pm Sunday, the two were in a verbal argument in their shared apartment.  The man called 911 and stated that Sigsbury stabbed him in the back of the neck with a pencil.  Police on scene noted that the man had two visible red slashes on the back of his neck.

Sigsbury was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault 2nd offense, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years. A no-contact order was requested between the couple.
