A motorist hit by a train in Washington County died from their injuries.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the incident occurred at 1:50 Monday morning on the 2400 block of Spruce Avenue in Ainsworth. The driver of a 2011 Ford Fusion was southbound when they ran the stop sign over the railroad crossing, colliding with a westbound train. The vehicle came to rest in a ditch.
The identity of the driver is being withheld at this time pending notification of family members.
