The search committee for the next University of Iowa vice president for research has announced that two candidates will participate in campus visits during the next two weeks. Each candidate will participate in an open forum and meet with faculty, staff, students, shared governance, and campus leadership.

The times and dates of the open forums will be:

  • 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, Urmila Sahai Seminar Room (room 2117) Medical Education Research Facility, 375 Newton Road
  • 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, Urmila Sahai Seminar Room (room 2117) Medical Education Research Facility, 375 Newton Road

The name of each candidate will be announced the day before their visit.

The next vice president for research will succeed Marty Scholtz, who left the UI for a position at Brown University. In September, Lois Geist, associate provost for faculty and professor in the Department of Internal Medicine in the Carver College of Medicine, was named interim vice president for research.
