An area transient was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly assaulting a high school student.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 at the Old Capitol Town Center on South Clinton Street. 21-year-old Lincoln Ziegenhorn reportedly attacked the fifteen-year-old while they were sitting at a table in the food court without provocation.  Ziegenhorn allegedly hit the teen in the face and smashed their laptop on the ground.

Police located Ziegenhorn several blocks away, and he reportedly stated that he had been in an altercation, and requested an attorney.

He was charged with 3rd degree Criminal Mischief and Assault causing Bodily Injury. If convicted on both counts, Ziegenhorn could be sentenced to up to three years in prison.
