The Cedar Rapids Fire Department extinguished an industrial fire Tuesday afternoon.
According to a release from the Department, Cedar Rapids Firefighters responded to Quaker Oats on the 400 block of 2nd St NE for the report of an industrial fire at 4:47pm.
Firefighters arrived on scene and located a piece of industrial machinery emitting smoke but no fire. The machinery was de-energized and cooled with water. Firefighters also ventilated the premises. One worker from the site was located and sent to the hospital for medical evaluation.
Firefighting Command issued the “under control” call at approximately 5:07p.m.
