A reported road rage incident has led to the arrest of a North Liberty man.

Coralville Police were called to a two-vehicle accident at the Cross Park Road Hy-Vee just after 9:45 Monday morning. One of the drivers, identified as 63-year-old James Poggenpohl of North Main Street, reportedly became upset after reviewing the damage to his Ford F150. Poggenpohl allegedly walked over to the other driver’s door and punched him as he was getting out of his car.

Police say Poggenpohl later told them he was upset because the other driver cut him off and slammed on his brakes, causing the accident. The other driver suffered a small cut to his forehead.

Poggenpohl is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.
