A Coralville man who was wanted on several warrants was arrested Tuesday afternoon after an alleged theft.
Officers were called to the Iowa City Walmart to deal with a shoplifter in custody. Loss prevention alleged that 53-year-old Shay Henderson pushed a cart out of the store without any attempt to pay for his purchases. In a search incident to his arrest, Henderson was found with six bottles of alcohol in his backpack valued at over $600.
The arrest report indicates Henderson has been convicted for the same exact offense numerous times, and was wanted for theft warrants from the same store for incidents on June 26th, June 29th, July 4th, July 5th, and July 16th. In each instance, Henderson attempted to leave the store with bottles of alcohol.
He faces six counts of 3rd degree theft and could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
