More information about a possible Cedar Rapids casino was released on Monday.

At a press conference, area leaders said market study results show $80.2 million in new revenue would come to the state of Iowa because of Cedar Crossing. The study, commissioned by Peninsula Pacific Entertainment and conducted by Convergence Strategy Group, also outlined job creation and revenues for the proposed project.

The Linn County Gaming Association says the $275 million project will be the largest gaming project in Iowa’s history and one of the largest development plans in recent memory. At its heart, the project includes 700 slot machines and 22 table games, delivering an unparalleled gaming experience.

Other amenities include Clubhouse by Zach Johnson, developed with the former Masters champion. It is envisioned as a relaxed, chef-run steakhouse. A “World’s Fare” area will feature street food from various cultures, and River’s Edge Smokehouse and Tap will serve barbeque ribs, pub food, and feature live music.

Cedar Crossing Casino and Entertainment Center’s proposed location is the old Cooper’s Mill location on the northwest side of Cedar Rapids. If granted a gaming license, the developers will also implement flood protection infrastructure. The city was denied a casino license in 2014 and 2017. P2E and its partners submitted an application to the IRGC in early August., shortly after a moratorium on new licenses expired.

A final vote by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission for a Linn County license is slated for February 2025.

The casino would donate 8% of funds yearly to local non-profits, 5% higher than the state requirement.
