An Iowa City man was arrested last week after he allegedly threatened to kill his teenaged son.

Police were called to the G Street address of 57-year-old Taj Hamid just before 4:50pm September 10th. The victim, a 15-year-old boy, told police that his father, Hamid, told him he was going to beat him to death.

As he was being taken away, the boy told police that while getting arrested he told his mother in Arabic that when he gets out of jail he is going to kill the kids.

Hamid was charged with two counts of 1st degree Harassment and could be sentenced to up to four years in prison if convicted.  Judge Brandon Schrock issued a no-contact order between Hamid and his family, and an arraignment will be scheduled at a later date.
