University of Iowa Police say a Coralville man was found with a lab coat and a hospital pager after he tried to illegally enter the NICU at the UI Health Care Campus Medical Center.

Arrest records indicate 48-year-old Robert Jones of the Iowa Lodge ran through a locked Plexiglas door and broke the window in the sixth floor NICU at 8:30 Friday night in an attempt to gain access to a baby inside. The area is not open to the public. Jones was arrested, and a search of his person reportedly turned up a duffel bag containing a doctor’s lab coat and paperwork. A hospital housekeeping pager was found in his pants.

Jones is charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Criminal Mischief and 4th Degree Theft. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 12 years in prison.
