A man caught masturbating at an Iowa City Kum & Go is back in the grasp of law enforcement after he skipped a sentencing hearing last month.
55-year-old Kenneth Kelly of Wayne Avenue was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 12:15 Friday afternoon. Kelly was wanted by police after he failed to appear at an August 15th sentencing hearing on an Indecent Exposure charge.
Customers at the Muscatine Avenue Kum & Go reported Kelly was outside masturbating and making sexual comments around 12:30 on the morning of March 16th, 2023. Kelly allegedly claimed that he wasn’t exposing himself and was instead scratching his genitals. He eventually entered a guilty plea in June.
Kelly could face up to one year in jail when he’s eventually sentenced.
The case even caught the eye of the writers of “Late Night With Seth Myers”, as the comedian joked about it during his monologue shortly after Kelly was arrested.
