A dispute with Iowa City Police over an illegally-parked camper has led to criminal charges against three different people.
According to arrest records, an officer with the ICPD was writing a ticket for a camper illegally parked near the intersection of Friendly Avenue and Ash Street just before 5:30 Wednesday night. The recipient of the ticket, 46-year-old Anna Bailey of Rochester Avenue, allegedly grabbed the ticket and started screaming obscenities at the officer. Police say she defied commands to back away and was taken to the ground when she resisted arrest.
That’s when 36-year-old Benjamin Bailey of Breconshire Lane in Coralville reportedly tried to intervene, despite the officer’s orders not to. Police say he had to be physically restrained.
A third person, 24-year-old Liberty Bailey of Ash Street, also allegedly interfered and was taken into custody.
All three Baileys are charged with Interference With Official Acts. If convicted, they each face a maximum of 30 days in jail.
