The subject of a no-contact order could face decades in prison after allegedly assaulting the protected party twice in two days.

The first incident was reportedly captured on security cameras outside University of Iowa Quickcare on Mormon Trek Boulevard just after 6:45 Wednesday night. 51-year-old Robert Sykes of Greensboro, North Carolina was seen arguing with a woman on a bench. At one point, he reportedly picked her up and threw her to the ground. The woman suffered bloody scratches on her arm from hitting the ground.

Just after 11:00 the next morning Sykes allegedly entered the woman’s unlocked apartment at the nearby Pheasant Ridge Apartments, went into her room, pushed her onto a bed, and assaulted her, including fondling her breasts against her will. The woman suffered a cut to her lip. Sykes had recently been staying at the residence despite the no-contact order being in place.

Sykes was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 1:00 Thursday afternoon and charged with 1st Degree Burglary, Assault Against a Protected Party, Assault Causing Bodily Injury, and two No-Contact Order Violations. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 31 years in prison.
